Our parent company specialise in custom size picture framing, from a purpose built factory in Cheshire. After many bizarre requests we then came across a client who wanted to solve the problem in finding stylish blackboards in specific size for his Michelin star restaurant. We obviously obliged and he was delighted at the results, so the blackboard studio was created to bring a revolutionary new service for the pub and restaurant industry. A bit about the blackboards themselves.
We only use double sided blackboards. Why? Blackboards by their nature will fade over time from the chalk dust and become slightly grey faded. With our blackboards that are coated on both sides you can reverse them giving you a new clean fresh surface removing the need to re paint them with messy blackboard paint. Our standard boards come in 6mm painted smooth finish mdf. These are really only suitable for internal use.
For exterior and superior easy clean blackboards we use a matt black high pressure laminate with a mate finish. Theses boards are coated on all side and edges. They are more suited to chalk pens due to their smoother surface, but stick chalk will still work well.
